An aromatic and fragrant herb. When infused in broth or liquid, bay leaves give off a minty, peppery flavor with a hint of bitterness.

Bay leaves have been used for thousands of years, since Ancient Greece, for cooking purposes, medicinal use, and essential oil practices. Bay leaves were integrated into the construction of the temple of Delphi in Ancient Greece. They were said to enhance psychic powers, healing, purity, strength, magic, inspiration, and wisdom.

Black Eyed Peas

Black Eyed Peas are a very traditional southern dish. Growing up, my mother always made sure we had black eyed peas, cornbread, collard greens, and stewed tomatoes for new years. Black eyed peas represent good luck and prosperity. As a child I hated black eyed peas and didn’t fully appreciate them until I became a chef. Now, as an adult and a chef, I continue this tradition and hope to one day pass it down to my children.
