A green herb belonging to the celery family. Dill has a distinct flavor, similar to fennel.

Native to eastern Europe, the eastern Mediterranean region, southern Russia, and western Africa. 

Eastern European immigrants brought dill to the New World, as it was a staple in European cuisine. 

Dill has been used medicinally for thousands of years to sooth the stomach.
