Ingredients: Egg (Chicken)

They consist of an outer shell and inner white and yolk. They are ovoid in shape and can vary in color (white, brown, green, blue). When cooked, they have a rich taste and soft texture.    

Like the chicken, eggs originated from India. Chickens were most likely domesticated for eggs as early as 3200 BCE.  

Polynesian voyagers brought chickens and their eggs to South America about a century before Columbus made contact with the continent. 

In 2004, a team of geneticists mapped a domesticated chicken genome and found that a mutation in the TSHR (thyroid-simulating hormone receptor) gene is responsible for chickens laying eggs all year long rather than during a specific season.
