Part of the onion family, leeks are vegetables with white bulbs and green tops. They are mild in flavor and closely resemble a scallion or green onion.

The image of a leek can be found on the emblems worn by the Welsh on St. David’s Day. Leeks represent the Welsh victory over the Saxons in 640 CE.
