Family Story
These cookies are a labor of love and a family favorite that are the result of a Christmas cookie swap that my Mom participated in with her "girls" from work back in the 80's and 90's. The cookies were at first, just for the cookie swap, but as the years went by, my Mom would make and send to family as well. In her memory, I am sharing her secret recipe for all to enjoy!!
Directions
1 Step
Cream the butter until light.
2 Step
Add sugar, 1/4 cup at a time. Beat well with each addition.
3 Step
Beat the eggs and vanilla together until thick. Gradually add the egg mixture to the butter and sugar and mix thoroughly.
4 Step
Sift the flour and salt together and fold into batter.
5 Step
Chill dough for 4 - 6 hours in refrigerator. Take out and let stand for one hour. Shape cookies with a spoon into 1 inch circles or ovals and add to baking sheet.
6 Step
Bake at 375 - 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Transfer to cooling rack and repeat until all dough has been baked.
7 Step
Melt chocolate in double boiler for dipping. Dip cooled cookie in melted chocolate, add sprinkles and let cool.
